Position Environmental Advisor

Location Yorkshire/North East

Salary £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)

We're looking for a proactive and reactive individual who can effectively implement and maintain robust Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and elevate environmental awareness across the diverse projects. You'll be instrumental in shaping our environmental performance, ensuring they not only meet but exceed regulatory obligations and industry best practices.

What you'll be doing:

  • Driving Environmental Performance: You'll be at the forefront of improving and maintaining our environmental performance and compliance across all projects.
  • Implementing Key Tools: Support project teams in setting up vital environmental management tools, including noise, air, and vibration monitors, as well as ecological surveys and pollution prevention measures.
  • Ensuring ISO14001 Compliance: Play a crucial role in ensuring our EMS is fully compliant with ISO14001 standards.
  • Proactive Management: Conduct regular site inspections and audits, identifying areas for improvement and coordinating effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Expert Guidance: Provide essential technical support on a wide range of environmental management aspects.
  • Staying Ahead: Ensure all environmental legislation changes are effectively communicated and implemented throughout the business.
  • Incident Management: Take charge of incident and emergency management, fulfilling our reporting obligations to regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborating for Success: Work closely with our HSEA and Sustainability teams, offering training and guidance where needed.
  • Data & Reporting: Assist in assessing, analysing, and collating environmental performance data for both internal and external reporting.
  • Liaising with Regulators: Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies like the Environment Agency.

What we're looking for:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a dedicated environmental position.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g., environmental studies, sustainable development). A Master's degree is a bonus!
  • Strong environmental management skills and a proven track record in both environmental documentation and management.
  • Confident communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and external stakeholders.
  • Solid relevant legislative knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of ArcGIS is highly desirable.
  • Membership of the IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) is a strong advantage.
